Mini-Split Installation & Repair Services in Oklahoma City

Not every space in your home or business can be served by a traditional ducted HVAC system. Older homes built without ductwork, room additions, converted garages, detached workshops, sunrooms, and commercial spaces often need a different solution — and a ductless mini-split system is almost always the right answer.

Mini-split systems consist of a small outdoor compressor unit connected to one or more indoor air handlers mounted on the wall or ceiling. There’s no ductwork required — just a small hole through the wall for the refrigerant line set and electrical connection. They provide both heating and cooling, run quietly, and are significantly more energy-efficient than window units or portable AC systems.

At Covington Heat & Air we install and service all major mini-split brands across Oklahoma City, Edmond, Moore, Norman, Mustang, Yukon, Piedmont, Midwest City, Del City, Bethany, Nichols Hills, Warr Acres, and Guthrie. Whether you need a single zone for one room or a multi-zone system covering several spaces, we’ll size it correctly and install it to manufacturer specifications. Is a Mini-Split Right for Your Space?

Mini-splits solve specific problems that traditional HVAC systems can’t. Here are the most common situations where they’re the right fit.

Home Additions & New Rooms

Extending your existing ductwork to a new addition is often expensive, disruptive, and impractical depending on your home’s layout. A mini-split handles a new room addition cleanly — one outdoor unit, one indoor air handler, and the space is fully conditioned without touching your existing system.

Older Homes Without Ductwork

Many older Oklahoma homes were built with radiators, wall heaters, or window units and have no existing duct infrastructure. Installing full ductwork is a major renovation. A multi-zone mini-split system can condition the entire home without a single duct — preserving walls, ceilings, and the character of the home.

Garages, Workshops & Detached Spaces

A detached garage, workshop, home gym, or studio is difficult to condition with a central system. A single-zone mini-split is the most practical and cost-effective solution — it installs in a day, runs efficiently, and provides both heating and cooling year-round.

Spaces That Are Always Too Hot or Too Cold

If you have a room in your home that’s perpetually uncomfortable regardless of what the thermostat is set to — a bonus room over the garage, a sunroom, a basement bedroom — a mini-split solves the problem without affecting the rest of the house. You control that zone independently from your main system.

How Our Mini-Split Installation Process Works in Oklahoma City

When you call Covington Heat & Air for a mini-split installation the first step is a free estimate. We assess the space, determine the correct system capacity in BTUs, evaluate the best location for the indoor air handler and outdoor unit, and confirm the electrical requirements. Proper sizing matters — an oversized unit short-cycles and doesn’t dehumidify properly, and an undersized unit runs constantly without reaching your set temperature.

Once we agree on equipment and pricing we schedule your installation. Most single-zone mini-split installations are completed in four to six hours. Multi-zone systems take longer depending on the number of indoor units and the complexity of the line set routing. We handle everything — mounting the indoor and outdoor units, running and insulating the refrigerant line set, making the electrical connections, and commissioning the system.

Before we leave we verify refrigerant charge, test all operating modes including heating and cooling, walk you through the remote control operation, and confirm everything is working correctly. Every installation is backed by our 1-year workmanship warranty plus the manufacturer’s equipment warranty. Financing is available.

Frequently Asked Questions — Mini-Split Installation In OKC

A single-zone mini-split installation in OKC typically ranges from $2,500–$4,500 depending on the system capacity, brand, and installation complexity. Multi-zone systems run higher depending on the number of indoor units — generally $4,000–$9,000 for two to four zones. We provide free in-home estimates so you know exactly what you’re looking at before committing. Financing is available.

Most single-zone installations are completed in four to six hours. Multi-zone systems take longer depending on the number of indoor units and line set routing complexity. We give you a realistic timeframe during the estimate.

Yes — modern mini-split heat pumps are effective down to surprisingly low outdoor temperatures. Most quality units maintain full heating capacity down to around 20°F and continue operating with reduced output below that. Oklahoma winters occasionally get colder than that during hard freezes, so we’ll discuss the specific equipment’s cold-weather performance during your estimate and make sure the system is appropriately sized for both heating and cooling loads.

Significantly more efficient. A quality mini-split system operates at 20+ SEER compared to a typical window unit at 10–12 SEER. Over a full Oklahoma cooling season the difference in operating cost is substantial. Mini-splits also provide heating, eliminating the need for separate heating equipment in spaces that currently use electric space heaters.

We install all major mini-split brands including Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, Carrier, Bosch, Fujitsu, and others. We’ll recommend the best fit for your budget, application, and long-term service considerations during the estimate.

Yes — annual maintenance keeps them running efficiently and extends their life. The indoor air handler filters need to be cleaned regularly by the homeowner, and a professional annual tune-up covers the outdoor unit, refrigerant levels, coil cleaning, and electrical connections. Ask us about scheduling annual maintenance when we complete your installation.
